Today you are going to write two paragraph response on the importance of Election Day. You will research and explain why Election Day is so important in your first paragraph. The second paragraph will be about who you would like to be elected the next mayor of NYC? You will research the candidates and give reasons why you would vote for one of the candidates. In this lesson we will read the start of a haunted house story. We will each complete the story independently. You will be expected to use descriptive language in your writing. During todays lesson we will read the article "Pain remains from the Exxon Valdez oil spill 25 years later". We will discuss the lasting effects of oil spills and discover ways to avoid them in the future. Answer all necessary slides completely. Ask any staff member from your classroom if you need assistance.

We will read the article "For many of the world's poor, drinking water can kill" from NewsELA. After reading this article we will answer questions and create a one paragraph summary of the article. All slides must be answered. Use complete sentences and ask for help if you need it.

Today we are going to continue watching the movie "Flint". We will create a summary using a Writer's Revolution method. All questions should be completed and then submitted through Google Slides. Let me know if you need any help. All work must be completed for homework if it is not finished in class. 

Watch the documentary "The Water Crisis." Then use the Writer's Revolution prompts in the Google Slides to write a summary paragraph. This lesson will take 2 days. Make sure to take notes while you are watching the documentary.

Today we are going to watch the movie Forrest Gump. This a fictional movie that takes place during the time of the Vietnam War. On the attached Google Slides you will be asked to determine the main idea (central theme), the main characters, and will be asked to determine what the director was trying to teach us when he created this movie. As always you can speak to any staff member in the room to help the assignment.

Today we are going to take a look at how the United States left Afghanistan after being there for 20 years. What effects this pullout will have on the people of Afghanistan. We will compare and contrast this situation to the article that we read on how the United States left Vietnam at the and of the Vietnam war.

We will compare and contrast this article to the circumstances that occurred in Afghanistan recently. Answer all necessary slides. Your work will be checked and graded.
