Resilience

Today my students were asked to perform a squat for 10 seconds and as you can see from the video they never gave up. I am so proud of their resilience to complete the task.

Olympic Torch Relay in PE

In PE today, we celebrated the kick-off of the Olympics by participating in a torch relay race.

Equity in PE

Each student had the tools and opportunity to succeed in this activity . They were given different size balls to choose from to fit the needs of their own abilities.

Empathy Activity in PE

This is a tag game called Helping Hands. When students were tagged, they had to sit down. Once they had one or two students hold their hand/hands they help them get up and go to a special area to do an exercise (10 jumping jacks) then they all went back in the game. After first round we had a discussion about how it felt to be sitting and how it felt to have people run by without helping and then how it felt when people came to help you. Then we played again, and the students were much better at helping others after that discussion. We played several rounds switching out taggers.
It is such a pleasure to welcome all of you wonderful students back to school this year.  My name is Mrs. Spallanzani (for those of you who are new) and I look forward to having a great year in Physical Education. My goal like always is to teach you to develop healthy living habits that will last a lifetime. Thank you Mrs. S.
